This artwork by Josef Čapek achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in February 2013. In the Impressionist and Modern Art Day Sale auction, the work Cubist Landscape - Recto Contemplation - Verso sold for GBP 265,250.00 (€ 308,102.91) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 120,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Josef Čapek - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Czech sailor And Phantomas: A Double-Sided Work (Námořník A Fantomas: Oboustranná Malba), which sold at auction in June 2011 for GBP 565,250.00 (€ 625,344.06).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Josef Čapek erzielte im Februar 2013 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Impressionist and Modern Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Cubist Landscape - Recto Contemplation - Verso für GBP 265.250,00 (€ 308.102,91) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 120.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Josef Čapek mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Czech sailor And Phantomas: A Double-Sided Work (Námořník A Fantomas: Oboustranná Malba) beobachtet, die im Juni 2011 für GBP 565.250,00 (€ 625.344,06) versteigert wurde.
