Auction result well in line with expectations
The work A Collection Of Seven Linocuts by Josef Čapek was sold in the Modern & Contemporary Prints auction at Christies in London in September 2013. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 7,500.00 (€ 8,965.09) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Josef Čapek achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Czech sailor And Phantomas: A Double-Sided Work (Námořník A Fantomas: Oboustranná Malba) in June 2011 with an auction result of GBP 565,250.00 (€ 625,344.06).
