This price was achieved in the auction The Hascoe Family Collection: Important Czech Art at Sothebys in London and exceeded the previously set upper estimate of GBP 90,000.00 many times over. Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Josef Čapek; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Czech sailor And Phantomas: A Double-Sided Work (Námořník A Fantomas: Oboustranná Malba) sold at auction in June 2011 with the realized price of GBP 565,250.00 (€ 625,344.06).
