etching, 1923, on wove paper, the first state (of two), signed and dated in pencil, from the edition of 150 (there were also 35 in the second state printed in 1937), with margins, the palest light-staining, occasional minor surface soiling, tiny old glue remains at the reverse of the upper margin corners, otherwise in very good condition

Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Le Penseur de Nôtre Dame, from Gargoyle Series (Arms 139; Fletcher 136) by John Taylor Arms was sold in the Prints and Multiples auction at Christies in New York in September 2003. The price achieved of USD 2,868.00 (€ 1,738.18) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 2,500.00 – 3,500.00. Admittedly, works by John Taylor Arms have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Various Subjects in April 2000 with an auction result of USD 11,162.50 (€ 12,281.33).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Le Penseur de Nôtre Dame, from Gargoyle Series (Arms 139; Fletcher 136) von John Taylor Arms wurde im September 2003 in der Auktion Prints and Multiples bei Christies in New York versteigert. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 2.868,00 (€ 1.738,18) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 2.500,00 – 3.500,00 angegeben worden.
