Auction result well in line with expectations
The work The Water-Babies (A Group Of Five Works) by Jessie Willcox Smith was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in March 2019. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 7,000.00 – 10,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 7,500.00 (€ 6,679.73) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jessie Willcox Smith achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work How Doth the Little Busy Bee in April 2011 with an auction result of USD 386,500.00 (€ 260,778.62).
