Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In March 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Shh…Baby Sleeping by Jessie Willcox Smith. Here, the upper estimate of USD 120,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 137,500.00 (€ 122,461.70). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jessie Willcox Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work How Doth the Little Busy Bee, which sold at auction in April 2011 for USD 386,500.00 (€ 260,778.62).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im März 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Shh…Baby Sleeping von Jessie Willcox Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 120.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 137.500,00 (€ 122.461,70) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Jessie Willcox Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit How Doth the Little Busy Bee beobachtet, die im April 2011 für USD 386.500,00 (€ 260.778,62) versteigert wurde.
