In April 2011 Sothebys in New York held the auction Original Illustration Art from the Collections of Kendra and Allan Daniel, which included the work How Doth the Little Busy Bee by Jessie Willcox Smith. The »bidding war« ended at USD 386,500.00 (€ 260,778.62), 29% above the upper estimate. With this result, How Doth the Little Busy Bee is even the most expensive work of art by Jessie Willcox Smith that we have observed at auctions so far.
