Here, the upper estimate of USD 50,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 56,250.00 (€ 50,097.97). Admittedly, works by Jessie Willcox Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work How Doth the Little Busy Bee in April 2011 with an auction result of USD 386,500.00 (€ 260,778.62).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Die Arbeit Bob, King Of The Fortunate Isle von Jessie Willcox Smith kam im März 2019 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 50.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 56.250,00 (€ 50.097,97) einen neuen Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Jessie Willcox Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit How Doth the Little Busy Bee im April 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 386.500,00 (€ 260.778,62).
