Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2015 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work The Newborn (Realization; Beginning "Problems Of Youth") by Jessie Willcox Smith. Here, the upper estimate of USD 70,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 75,000.00 (€ 68,219.03). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jessie Willcox Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work How Doth the Little Busy Bee, which sold at auction in April 2011 for USD 386,500.00 (€ 260,778.62).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im Mai 2015 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Newborn (Realization; Beginning "Problems Of Youth") von Jessie Willcox Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 70.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 75.000,00 (€ 68.219,03) einen neuen Besitzer. Für andere Arbeiten von Jessie Willcox Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit How Doth the Little Busy Bee beobachtet, die im April 2011 für USD 386.500,00 (€ 260.778,62) versteigert wurde.
