Auction result well in line with expectations
In November 2014 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work The Bed-Time Book by Jessie Willcox Smith. It changed hands for a price of USD 112,500.00 (€ 90,448.63) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jessie Willcox Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work How Doth the Little Busy Bee, which sold at auction in April 2011 for USD 386,500.00 (€ 260,778.62).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im November 2014 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Bed-Time Book von Jessie Willcox Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 112.500,00 (€ 90.448,63) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Jessie Willcox Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit How Doth the Little Busy Bee beobachtet, die im April 2011 für USD 386.500,00 (€ 260.778,62) versteigert wurde.
