Auction result well in line with expectations
In May 2014 Sothebys in New York held the auction American Art, which included the work Jack And The Beanstalk by Jessie Willcox Smith. It changed hands for a price of USD 112,500.00 (€ 82,478.01) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 80,000.00 – 120,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Jessie Willcox Smith - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work How Doth the Little Busy Bee, which sold at auction in April 2011 for USD 386,500.00 (€ 260,778.62).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Mai 2014 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion American Art durch, in der auch die Arbeit Jack And The Beanstalk von Jessie Willcox Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 112.500,00 (€ 82.478,01) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 80.000,00 – 120.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Jessie Willcox Smith mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit How Doth the Little Busy Bee beobachtet, die im April 2011 für USD 386.500,00 (€ 260.778,62) versteigert wurde.
