Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Chuttings by Jeff Wall was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 52,920.00 (€ 45,436.59) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jeff Wall achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Dead Troops Talk (A vision after an ambush of a Red Army patrol, near Moqor, Afghanistan, winter 1986) in May 2012 with an auction result of USD 3,666,500.00 (€ 2,965,464.25).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Chuttings von Jeff Wall kam im Oktober 2020 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 52.920,00 (€ 45.436,59) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Jeff Wall erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Dead Troops Talk (A vision after an ambush of a Red Army patrol, near Moqor, Afghanistan, winter 1986) im Mai 2012 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 3.666.500,00 (€ 2.965.464,25).
