Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
The work The Sorceress (Hollstein 152) by Jan van de Velde II was sold in the Old Master, Modern and Contemporary Prints Including Andy Warhol & the Pop Generation auction at Sothebys in London in March 2007. It achieved a price of GBP 3,600.00 (€ 5,298.79), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 20%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jan van de Velde II achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work A Village On A Broad River With Two Horseman At A Gateway To The Left; And An Abbey By A River With A Group of Monks On A Track in July 2005 with an auction result of GBP 355,200.00 (€ 515,214.25).
