Auction result well in line with expectations
In October 2018 Phillips in New York held the auction Evening & Day Editions, which included the work Venetian Night by James McBey. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,500.00 – 4,500.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,750.00 (€ 3,309.21) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by James McBey have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Dacie in September 2020 with an auction result of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 27,566.56).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Oktober 2018 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Evening & Day Editions durch, in der auch die Arbeit Venetian Night von James McBey zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.500,00 – 4.500,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.750,00 (€ 3.309,21) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James McBey auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of Dacie im September 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 25.000,00 (€ 27.566,56).
