Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Lacemakers and beadstringers in a sunlit street, Venice by James McBey was auctioned at Bonhams in May this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of GBP 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of GBP 3,187.50 (€ 3,708.68) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by James McBey have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Portrait of Dacie in September 2020 with an auction result of GBP 25,000.00 (€ 27,566.56).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Lacemakers and beadstringers in a sunlit street, Venice von James McBey kam im Mai diesen Jahres bei Bonhams zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von GBP 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von GBP 3.187,50 (€ 3.708,68) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von James McBey auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Portrait of Dacie im September 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von GBP 25.000,00 (€ 27.566,56).
