Auction result well in line with expectations
In May this year Bonhams held the auction Scottish Art, which included the work A view across the Basin of St Marks towards the Doge's Palace, Venice by James McBey. The price achieved of GBP 7,012.50 (€ 8,159.09) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as GBP 6,000.00 – 8,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by James McBey - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Portrait of Dacie, which sold at auction in September 2020 for GBP 25,000.00 (€ 27,566.56).
