Auction result well in line with expectations
In September 2021 Bonhams in Los Angeles held the auction Prints & Multiples, which included the work The First Book of Moses Called Genesis by Jacob Lawrence. The price achieved of USD 5,737.50 (€ 4,955.95) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 5,000.00 – 7,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Jacob Lawrence achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work The Businessmen in November 2018 with an auction result of USD 6,169,800.00 (€ 5,448,909.30).
