Artwork auctioned at ten times the upper estimate price
When the work Far Out by Erik Parker was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May last year, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 35,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than ten times as high at USD 378,000.00 (€ 352,250.49). Despite this good result, it is not the highest hammer price for an artwork by Erik Parker; that achieved among the auctions we observed the lot Big Time sold at auction in May last year with the realized price of HKD 3,654,000.00 (€ 433,808.22).
Kunstwerk zum Zehnfachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Far Out von Erik Parker im Mai letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 35.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 378.000,00 (€ 352.250,49) mehr als zehnmal so hoch. Trotz des guten Ergebnisses ist dies nicht der höchste Zuschlag für ein Kunstwerk von Erik Parker; den erzielte unter den von uns beobachteten Auktionen die Arbeit Big Time im Mai letzten Jahres mit dem Hammerpreis von HKD 3.654.000,00 (€ 433.808,22).
