Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Mulata by Emiliano di Cavalcanti was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in May last year, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 350,000.00 – 450,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 277,200.00 (€ 258,317.03). Admittedly, works by Emiliano di Cavalcanti have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Reclining Nude With Fish And Fruit in November 2017 with an auction result of USD 1,575,000.00 (€ 1,323,751.89).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Mulata von Emiliano di Cavalcanti im Mai letzten Jahres bei Sothebys in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 350.000,00 – 450.000,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 277.200,00 (€ 258.317,03) den Besitzer. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Emiliano di Cavalcanti auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Reclining Nude With Fish And Fruit im November 2017 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 1.575.000,00 (€ 1.323.751,89).
