Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In May 2005 Christies in New York held the auction Post-War and Contemporary Art (Afternoon Session), which included the work Flea Market Lady by Duane Hanson. The »bidding war« ended at USD 180,000.00 (€ 145,760.79), 20% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Duane Hanson - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Cowboy, which sold at auction in May last year for USD 428,400.00 (€ 399,217.22).
