Auction result well in line with expectations
In February 2019 Phillips in New York held the auction New Now, which included the work the handle comes up, the hammer comes down by Doug Aitken. The price achieved of USD 87,500.00 (€ 76,896.04) was within expectations - the estimate range had previously been set by the auction house as USD 75,000.00 – 100,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Doug Aitken - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work West, which sold at auction in November 2010 for USD 326,500.00 (€ 250,460.26).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im Februar 2019 führte Phillips in New York die Auktion New Now durch, in der auch die Arbeit the handle comes up, the hammer comes down von Doug Aitken zur Versteigerung kam. Der dabei erzielte Preis von USD 87.500,00 (€ 76.896,04) lag im Rahmen der Erwartungen – die Schätzpreisspanne war von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit USD 75.000,00 – 100.000,00 angegeben worden. Für andere Arbeiten von Doug Aitken mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit West beobachtet, die im November 2010 für USD 326.500,00 (€ 250.460,26) versteigert wurde.
