Auction result well in line with expectations
In March 2021 Christies in New York held the auction First Open, which included the work Untitled (Santa Barbara Offshore Platforms) Ii by Doug Aitken. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,250.00 (€ 2,767.61) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Doug Aitken achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work West in November 2010 with an auction result of USD 326,500.00 (€ 250,460.26).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März 2021 führte Christies in New York die Auktion First Open durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (Santa Barbara Offshore Platforms) Ii von Doug Aitken zur Versteigerung kam. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.250,00 (€ 2.767,61) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Doug Aitken erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit West im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 326.500,00 (€ 250.460,26).
