Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Doug Aitken achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in London in March last year. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Jungle Plane sold for GBP 103,320.00 (€ 122,497.49) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 40,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Doug Aitken - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work West, which sold at auction in November 2010 for USD 326,500.00 (€ 250,460.26).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Doug Aitken erzielte im März letzten Jahres bei Phillips in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale wurde die Arbeit Jungle Plane für GBP 103.320,00 (€ 122.497,49) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 40.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Doug Aitken mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit West beobachtet, die im November 2010 für USD 326.500,00 (€ 250.460,26) versteigert wurde.
