Auction result well in line with expectations
In March this year Phillips in New York held the auction New Now, which included the work UTOPIA (Altamont Motor Speedway) by Doug Aitken. It changed hands for a price of USD 69,850.00 (€ 64,247.61) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 50,000.00 – 70,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Doug Aitken - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work West, which sold at auction in November 2010 for USD 326,500.00 (€ 250,460.26).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Im März diesen Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion New Now durch, in der auch die Arbeit UTOPIA (Altamont Motor Speedway) von Doug Aitken zur Versteigerung kam. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 69.850,00 (€ 64.247,61) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 50.000,00 – 70.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Doug Aitken mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit West beobachtet, die im November 2010 für USD 326.500,00 (€ 250.460,26) versteigert wurde.
