Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Exit by Doug Aitken was sold in the Contemporary Art | New York auction at Sothebys in New York in December 2021. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 40,000.00 – 60,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 40,350.00 (€ 35,651.18) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Admittedly, works by Doug Aitken have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work West in November 2010 with an auction result of USD 326,500.00 (€ 250,460.26).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Exit von Doug Aitken wurde im Dezember 2021 in der Auktion Contemporary Art | New York bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 40.000,00 – 60.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 40.350,00 (€ 35.651,18) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Doug Aitken auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit West im November 2010 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 326.500,00 (€ 250.460,26).
