This work without title by De Wain Valentine was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2014. It achieved a price of USD 18,750.00 (€ 14,847.96), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 25%. Admittedly, works by De Wain Valentine have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Concave Crystal, 1986 in February this year with an auction result of USD 101,175.00 (€ 95,430.11).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 25 % übertroffen
Diese Arbeit ohne Titel von De Wain Valentine kam im September 2014 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 18.750,00 (€ 14.847,96) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 25%. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von De Wain Valentine auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Concave Crystal, 1986 im Februar diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 101.175,00 (€ 95.430,11).
