Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In September last year Phillips in New York held the auction New Now, which included the work Waterwall by De Wain Valentine. The »bidding war« ended at USD 6,930.00 (€ 7,083.72), 16% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by De Wain Valentine achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Concave Crystal, 1986 in February this year with an auction result of USD 101,175.00 (€ 95,430.11).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im September letzten Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion New Now durch, in der auch die Arbeit Waterwall von De Wain Valentine zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 6.930,00 (€ 7.083,72) und damit 16% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von De Wain Valentine erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Concave Crystal, 1986 im Februar diesen Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 101.175,00 (€ 95.430,11).
