Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Aqua Circle, 1969-70 by De Wain Valentine was auctioned at Bonhams in Los Angeles in September 2020. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 30,000.00 – 50,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 33,000.00 (€ 28,161.80) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by De Wain Valentine - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Concave Crystal, 1986, which sold at auction in February this year for USD 101,175.00 (€ 95,430.11).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Aqua Circle, 1969-70 von De Wain Valentine kam im September 2020 bei Bonhams in Los Angeles zur Auktion. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 30.000,00 – 50.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 33.000,00 (€ 28.161,80) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Für andere Arbeiten von De Wain Valentine mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Concave Crystal, 1986 beobachtet, die im Februar diesen Jahres für USD 101.175,00 (€ 95.430,11) versteigert wurde.
