Auction result well in line with expectations
This work without title by De Wain Valentine was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in September 2017. It changed hands for a price of USD 32,500.00 (€ 27,512.06) achieving a result in the upper range of the estimate price range of USD 25,000.00 – 35,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by De Wain Valentine - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Concave Crystal, 1986, which sold at auction in February this year for USD 101,175.00 (€ 95,430.11).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Diese Arbeit ohne Titel von De Wain Valentine kam im September 2017 bei Sothebys in New York zur Auktion. Dabei wechselte sie für einen Preis von USD 32.500,00 (€ 27.512,06) den Besitzer und erzielte damit ein Ergebnis im oberen Bereich der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 25.000,00 – 35.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von De Wain Valentine mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Concave Crystal, 1986 beobachtet, die im Februar diesen Jahres für USD 101.175,00 (€ 95.430,11) versteigert wurde.
