Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Fashions by Charles Ray was auctioned at Christies in New York in November 2011, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 250,000.00 – 350,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 206,500.00 (€ 153,497.36). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Charles Ray achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Aluminum Girl in May 2012 with an auction result of USD 4,282,500.00 (€ 3,463,684.89).
