This work of art by Billy Al Bengston could be acquired at Christies in New York in November this year for an unexpectedly low price. In the Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale auction, the work Big Duke changed hands for USD 113,400.00 (€ 103,960.40) - missing the lower end of the estimate range of USD 150,000.00 – 250,000.00. Admittedly, works by Billy Al Bengston have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Lester, 1961 in February 2020 with an auction result of USD 548,075.00 (€ 497,120.18).

Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne

Dieses Kunstwerk von Billy Al Bengston konnte im November diesen Jahres bei Christies in New York für einen unerwartet niedrigen Preis ersteigert werden. In der Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale wechselte die Arbeit Big Duke für USD 113.400,00 (€ 103.960,40) den Besitzer – und verfehlte damit das untere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne von USD 150.000,00 – 250.000,00. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Billy Al Bengston auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Lester, 1961 im Februar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 548.075,00 (€ 497.120,18).
