It achieved a price of USD 44,100.00 (€ 41,392.90), exceeding the upper end of the estimate range by 47%. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Billy Al Bengston achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lester, 1961 in February 2020 with an auction result of USD 548,075.00 (€ 497,120.18).

Die Arbeit Earp von Billy Al Bengston wurde im Mai diesen Jahres in der Auktion A Century of Art: The Gerald Fineberg Collection Part II bei Christies in New York versteigert. Sie erzielte dabei einen Preis von USD 44.100,00 (€ 41.392,90) und übertraf damit das obere Ende der Schätzpreisspanne um 47%. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Billy Al Bengston erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Lester, 1961 im Februar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 548.075,00 (€ 497.120,18).
