Auction result misses estimated price range
In April this year a collector was able to acquire the work Venus, 2008 by Billy Al Bengston for USD 2,805.00 (€ 2,540.76). This price was achieved in the auction Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art at Bonhams and was even below the estimate range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00 set by the auction house. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Billy Al Bengston achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Lester, 1961 in February 2020 with an auction result of USD 548,075.00 (€ 497,120.18).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Im April diesen Jahres konnte ein Sammler die Arbeit Venus, 2008 von Billy Al Bengston für USD 2.805,00 (€ 2.540,76) erwerben. Dieser Preis wurde in der Auktion Made in CaliforniaContemporary Art bei Bonhams erzielt und lag noch unterhalb der von dem Auktionshaus angesetzten Schätzpreisspanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Billy Al Bengston erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Lester, 1961 im Februar 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 548.075,00 (€ 497.120,18).
