Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Ben Sledsens achieved an unexpectedly high price at Phillips in New York in May last year. In the 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session auction, the work Bear in the Deep Woods sold for USD 201,600.00 (€ 187,866.93) - well above the upper estimate of USD 80,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Ben Sledsens - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Throwing Dice, which sold at auction in June this year for GBP 504,000.00 (€ 586,569.23).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Ben Sledsens erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Phillips in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art Day Sale, Afternoon Session wurde die Arbeit Bear in the Deep Woods für USD 201.600,00 (€ 187.866,93) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 80.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Ben Sledsens mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Throwing Dice beobachtet, die im Juni diesen Jahres für GBP 504.000,00 (€ 586.569,23) versteigert wurde.
