Incised with signature, date and numbered 71/125 on the Plexiglas cover (there were also sixteen proofs lettered A-P), published by Multiples, Inc., New York, framed.

In April last year Phillips in New York held the auction Editions & Works on Paper, which included the work The Moment, from Four on Plexiglas (Barnett Newman Foundation 227) (S. 1966.0IB) by Barnett Newman. The »bidding war« ended at USD 25,200.00 (€ 23,915.73), 40% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Barnett Newman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Black Fire I in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 84,165,000.00 (€ 61,704,545.45).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 40 % übertroffen
Im April letzten Jahres führte Phillips in New York die Auktion Editions & Works on Paper durch, in der auch die Arbeit The Moment, from Four on Plexiglas (Barnett Newman Foundation 227) (S. 1966.0IB) von Barnett Newman zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 25.200,00 (€ 23.915,73) und damit 40% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Barnett Newman erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Black Fire I im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 84.165.000,00 (€ 61.704.545,45).
