Upper estimated price slightly exceeded
In April this year Christies in New York held the auction The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples, which included this untitled work by Barnett Newman. The »bidding war« ended at USD 94,500.00 (€ 85,597.83), 18% above the upper estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Barnett Newman achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Black Fire I in May 2014 with an auction result of USD 84,165,000.00 (€ 61,704,545.45).
Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen
Im April diesen Jahres führte Christies in New York die Auktion The Sale of the Century: An Important Corporate Collection of Prints and Multiples durch, in der auch diese Arbeit ohne Titel von Barnett Newman zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 94.500,00 (€ 85.597,83) und damit 18% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Barnett Newman erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Black Fire I im Mai 2014 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 84.165.000,00 (€ 61.704.545,45).
