Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Ipswich Bridge; The Big Sky; And Nabby'S Point by Arthur Wesley Dow was auctioned at Sothebys in New York in October 2014, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 6,000.00 – 8,000.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 5,938.00 (€ 4,739.03). However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Arthur Wesley Dow - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Moon Over The Hill, which sold at auction in October 2014 for USD 23,750.00 (€ 18,954.51).
