Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work In a Room; Dancer; and Woman Watching a Bird by Anne Ryan was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2001, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 1,400.00 – 1,800.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 1,292.50 (€ 1,437.23). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Anne Ryan achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (No. 234) signed 'A. Ryan' (lower right); signed again, titled and dated 'No. 234 3-5-49 A. Ryan' (on the backing board) printed paper, string, metallic paper, watercolor, ink and glue collage on paper 7 x 5½ in. (17.7 x 13.9 cm. in January 2009 with an auction result of USD 22,500.00 (€ 17,572.63).
Ryan' (lower right); signed again, titled and dated 'No. 234 3-5-49 A. Ryan' (on the backing board) printed paper, string, metallic paper, watercolor, ink and glue collage on paper 7 x 5½ in. (17.7 x 13.9 cm. im Januar 2009 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 22.500,00 (€ 17.572,63).
