Artwork auctioned at three times the upper estimate price
When the work Untitled (Group of Monkeys) by Wilhelm Sasnal was auctioned at Phillips in New York in June 2021, the result exceeded expectations many times over. The upper estimate was set at a - in retrospect quite modest - USD 7,000.00 but the actual price achieved was more than three times as high at USD 22,680.00 (€ 19,142.47). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Wilhelm Sasnal achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Airplanes in May 2007 with an auction result of USD 396,000.00 (€ 294,358.14).
Kunstwerk zum Dreifachen des oberen Schätzpreises versteigert
Als die Arbeit Untitled (Group of Monkeys) von Wilhelm Sasnal im Juni 2021 bei Phillips in New York versteigert wurde, übertraf das Ergebnis die Erwartungen um ein Vielfaches. Der obere Schätzpreis war mit – rückwirkend betrachtet recht bescheidenen – USD 7.000,00 angesetzt, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis hingegen war mit USD 22.680,00 (€ 19.142,47) mehr als dreimal so hoch. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Wilhelm Sasnal erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Airplanes im Mai 2007 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 396.000,00 (€ 294.358,14).
