Auction result well in line with expectations
The work Untitled (Saturn) (see R. fig. 23) by Vija Celmins was sold in the Editions & Works on Paper auction at Phillips in New York in April this year. The estimated price for the artwork was previously given by the auction house with a range of USD 3,000.00 – 5,000.00, the actual price achieved of USD 3,302.00 (€ 2,990.94) could thus just exceed the lower estimate. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Vija Celmins achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Untitled (Ocean) in June 2021 with an auction result of USD 7,748,000.00 (€ 6,539,500.34).
Auktionsergebnis im Rahmen der Erwartungen
Die Arbeit Untitled (Saturn) (see R. fig. 23) von Vija Celmins wurde im April diesen Jahres in der Auktion Editions & Works on Paper bei Phillips in New York versteigert. Der Schätzpreis für das Kunstwerk wurde von dem Auktionshaus zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 3.000,00 – 5.000,00 angegeben, der tatsächlich erzielte Preis von USD 3.302,00 (€ 2.990,94) konnte den unteren Schätzpreis somit knapp übertreffen. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Vija Celmins erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Untitled (Ocean) im Juni 2021 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 7.748.000,00 (€ 6.539.500,34).
