In June 2021 Phillips in New York held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art Evening Sale, which included the work Untitled (Ocean) by Vija Celmins. The »bidding war« ended at USD 7,748,000.00 (€ 6,539,500.34), 19% above the upper estimate. With this result, Untitled (Ocean) is even the most expensive work of art by Vija Celmins that we have observed at auctions so far.
