In November 2019 Sothebys in New York held the auction Contemporary Art Day Auction, which included the work Marriage by Tony Smith. The »bidding war« ended at USD 87,500.00 (€ 79,408.29), 25% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Tony Smith have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work For J.C. in May 2011 with an auction result of USD 530,500.00 (€ 369,017.81).

Im November 2019 führte Sothebys in New York die Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction durch, in der auch die Arbeit Marriage von Tony Smith zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 87.500,00 (€ 79.408,29) und damit 25% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Tony Smith auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit For J.C. im Mai 2011 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 530.500,00 (€ 369.017,81).
