In November last year Phillips in Hong Kong held the auction 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale in association with Yongle, which included the work Holy Urine by Tomokazu Matsuyama. The »bidding war« ended at HKD 1,071,000.00 (€ 132,902.35), 34% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Tomokazu Matsuyama have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Something Came Together in April last year with an auction result of HKD 5,040,000.00 (€ 609,372.69).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 34 % übertroffen
Im November letzten Jahres führte Phillips in Hong Kong die Auktion 20th Century & Contemporary Art & Design Day Sale in association with Yongle durch, in der auch die Arbeit Holy Urine von Tomokazu Matsuyama zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von HKD 1.071.000,00 (€ 132.902,35) und damit 34% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Tomokazu Matsuyama auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Something Came Together im April letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 5.040.000,00 (€ 609.372,69).
