This artwork by Subodh Gupta achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in New York in May 2019. In the Contemporary Art Day Auction auction, the work Vehicle For The Seven Seas sold for USD 137,500.00 (€ 123,329.45) - well above the upper estimate of USD 70,000.00. Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Subodh Gupta achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work without title in October 2008 with an auction result of HKD 12,980,000.00 (€ 1,320,312.25).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 96 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Subodh Gupta erzielte im Mai 2019 bei Sothebys in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Contemporary Art Day Auction wurde die Arbeit Vehicle For The Seven Seas für USD 137.500,00 (€ 123.329,45) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 70.000,00. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Subodh Gupta erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit ohne Titel im Oktober 2008 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von HKD 12.980.000,00 (€ 1.320.312,25).
