Upper estimate price exceeded by more than 100%
This artwork by Elaine Sturtevant achieved an unexpectedly high price at Christies in New York in May last year. In the The Collection of Thomas and Doris Ammann Evening Sale auction, the work Lichtenstein But It's Hopeless sold for USD 2,220,000.00 (€ 2,068,772.71) - well above the upper estimate of USD 800,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Elaine Sturtevant - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work Warhol Diptych, which sold at auction in May 2015 for USD 5,093,000.00 (€ 4,632,526.83).
Oberer Schätzpreis um mehr als 100% übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Elaine Sturtevant erzielte im Mai letzten Jahres bei Christies in New York einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion The Collection of Thomas and Doris Ammann Evening Sale wurde die Arbeit Lichtenstein But It's Hopeless für USD 2.220.000,00 (€ 2.068.772,71) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von USD 800.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Elaine Sturtevant mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit Warhol Diptych beobachtet, die im Mai 2015 für USD 5.093.000,00 (€ 4.632.526,83) versteigert wurde.
