SARAH SZE (b. 1969) Migrateurs (Red Lamp) found object construction—electric wire, emergency light, razor blade, pins, dental floss, q-tips, sugar packets, electrical plugs, lights, pens, matches, toothpicks, pills, gum, nails, alarm clock, safety pin, nail clipper, post-its, tic-tacs, telephone cables, battery, mentos, shot glasses, thread, and wax figures 17 1 ⁄ 2 x 21 x 5 1 ⁄ 2 in. (44.5 x 53.3 x 14 cm.) Executed in 1997.

Upper estimated price slightly exceeded

The work Migrateurs (Red Lamp) by Sarah Sze was sold in the First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art auction at Christies in New York in July last year. Here, the upper estimate of USD 20,000.00 was slightly exceeded - the artwork found a new owner for USD 22,680.00 (€ 22,230.94). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sarah Sze achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Surprise Ending in December 2020 with an auction result of USD 737,500.00 (€ 603,025.35).

Oberer Schätzpreis leicht übertroffen

Die Arbeit Migrateurs (Red Lamp) von Sarah Sze wurde im Juli letzten Jahres in der Auktion First Open | Post-War & Contemporary Art bei Christies in New York versteigert. Dabei wurde der obere Schätzpreis von USD 20.000,00 leicht übertroffen – das Kunstwerk fand für USD 22.680,00 (€ 22.230,94) einen neuen Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sarah Sze erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Surprise Ending im Dezember 2020 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 737.500,00 (€ 603.025,35).
