Auction result misses estimated price range
When the work Cheshire Smile by Sanford Biggers was auctioned at Christies in New York in October 2018, the result was somewhat disappointing. The auction house had previously given the estimated price as a range of USD 400.00 – 600.00, of which not even the lower limit was reached - in fact, the artwork changed hands for USD 250.00 (€ 220.61). Of course, this price has nothing to do with the top prices that other works by Sanford Biggers achieve. The highest price we have observed so far was reached by the work Banneker in March last year with an auction result of USD 138,600.00 (€ 124,943.66).
Auktionsergebnis verfehlt die Schätzpreisspanne
Als die Arbeit Cheshire Smile von Sanford Biggers im Oktober 2018 bei Christies in New York versteigert wurde, fiel das Ergebnis ein wenig enttäuschend aus. Das Auktionshaus hatte den Schätzpreis zuvor mit einer Spanne von USD 400,00 – 600,00 angegeben, von der nicht einmal die Untergrenze erreicht wurde - tatsächlich wechselte das Kunstwerk für USD 250,00 (€ 220,61) den Besitzer. Dieser Preis hat freilich nichts mit den Spitzenpreisen zu tun, die andere Arbeiten von Sanford Biggers erzielen. Den höchsten von uns bisher beobachteten Preis erreichte die Arbeit Banneker im März letzten Jahres mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 138.600,00 (€ 124.943,66).
