In October 2020 Christies in New York held the auction Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale, which included the work Untitled (S.753, Hanging Ten Interlocking Double Trumpets) by Ruth Asawa. The »bidding war« ended at USD 1,050,000.00 (€ 901,519.70), 50% above the upper estimate. Admittedly, works by Ruth Asawa have also been auctioned for a multiple of this price - according to our records, the highest result so far was achieved by the work Untitled (S.387, Hanging Three Separate Layers of Three-Lobed Forms) in November 2019 with an auction result of USD 4,095,000.00 (€ 3,716,308.19).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 50 % übertroffen
Im Oktober 2020 führte Christies in New York die Auktion Post-War & Contemporary Art Day Sale durch, in der auch die Arbeit Untitled (S.753, Hanging Ten Interlocking Double Trumpets) von Ruth Asawa zur Versteigerung kam. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 1.050.000,00 (€ 901.519,70) und damit 50% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Freilich wurden Arbeiten von Ruth Asawa auch schon für ein Vielfaches dieses Preises versteigert – das bisher höchste Ergebnis erzielte nach unseren Aufzeichnungen die Arbeit Untitled (S.387, Hanging Three Separate Layers of Three-Lobed Forms) im November 2019 mit einem Auktionsergebnis von USD 4.095.000,00 (€ 3.716.308,19).
