The »bidding war« ended at USD 27,500.00 (€ 18,637.75), 38% above the upper estimate. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pavel Chmaroff - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Bathers, which sold at auction in December 2009 for GBP 34,850.00 (€ 39,312.03).

Die Arbeit La Baignade von Pavel Chmaroff wurde im Oktober 2009 in der Auktion Impressionist & Modern Art including Russian and Latin American Art bei Sothebys in New York versteigert. Das »Bietergefecht« endete beim Preis von USD 27.500,00 (€ 18.637,75) und damit 38% über dem oberen Schätzpreis. Für andere Arbeiten von Pavel Chmaroff mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Bathers beobachtet, die im Dezember 2009 für GBP 34.850,00 (€ 39.312,03) versteigert wurde.
