This artwork by Pavel Chmaroff achieved an unexpectedly high price at Sothebys in London in November 2021. In the Russian Pictures auction, the work Feodor Chaliapin as Boris Godunov sold for GBP 13,860.00 (€ 16,272.94) - well above the upper estimate of GBP 7,000.00. However, buyers have had to dig much deeper into their pockets for other works by Pavel Chmaroff - we have observed the highest auction result to date for the work The Bathers, which sold at auction in December 2009 for GBP 34,850.00 (€ 39,312.03).
Oberer Schätzpreis um 98 % übertroffen
Dieses Kunstwerk von Pavel Chmaroff erzielte im November 2021 bei Sothebys in London einen unerwartet hohen Preis. In der Auktion Russian Pictures wurde die Arbeit Feodor Chaliapin as Boris Godunov für GBP 13.860,00 (€ 16.272,94) versteigert – und damit weit über dem oberen Schätzpreis von GBP 7.000,00. Für andere Arbeiten von Pavel Chmaroff mussten die Käufer allerdings auch schon deutlich tiefer in die Tasche greifen – das bisher höchste Auktionsergebnis haben wir für die Arbeit The Bathers beobachtet, die im Dezember 2009 für GBP 34.850,00 (€ 39.312,03) versteigert wurde.
